Pay rate is £Negotiable p/h Ltd/ Umbrella Company We are recruiting for an Independent Reviewing Officer. The post holder will ensure that children looked after by the Local Authority have regular reviews to consider the care plan and placement. It is the role of the Independent Reviewing Officer to ensure that a child's views are taken into consideration and that the Local Authority is fulfilling its duties and functions. The main duties of the role include acting as an independent chair at statutory review meetings for looked after children; ensuring children's views are known and that children are encouraged fully to participate fully in planning and review meetings; regulating and providing guidance in the formation and review of individual care plans for developing and maintaining system for a review process of looked after children; fully prepare for all LAC reviews prior to the review and in between their reviews, ensuring the views of the birth parents are obtained in advance of and during LAC reviews and liaising with all appropriate professionals; ensuring that practice is in accordance with statutory regulations and ensuring all statutory paperwork is accurate and up to date; raising issues and challenge as appropriate to ensuring the child's best interests continue to be met; working in accordance with local policy and procedure in addition to statutory regulations in respect of looked after children; working flexibly and responsively to ensure children's needs are met and that the highest level of service is provided at all times. This is a specialist independent role with professional accountability enshrined in statutory guidance to deliver the Local Authority's statutory responsibilities to promote & safeguard the welfare of children. The post holder must have Specialist professional expertise with regard to child protection practice which includes;- Independent oversight and quality assurance of child protection planning (including chairing of child protection conferences), and for Looked After Children ensuring that the child's interests are promoted throughout and reporting deficits and recommending actions to senior managers. The post holder must have previous experience as an IRO.
