Support Worker (Nights)

Look Ahead provides a wide range of specialist care, support and accommodation services to over 8,000 people every year across London and the South East. We work with local authorities and health trusts to support individuals with a variety of needs including mental health, homelessness and learning and physical disabilities, We also work with young people, teenage parents and those with experiences of offending and substance misuse. In July of this year Look Ahead is opening to a new service in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. This innovative service will accommodate individuals with a variety of complex needs which may include substance misuse, complex trauma or a personality disorder in addition to recognised mental health needs. The service will provide a new approach and opportunity for recovery within newly refurbished self-contained accommodation in the community. 24-hour staffing arrangements will deliver a programme of support and risk management that focuses on personal goals and the attainment of the skills necessary to successfully live independently. As a result Look Ahead is looking for experienced, dedicated people with the interpersonal skills and ‘can do’ mindset necessary to form the team that will realise this flagship service. Night Support Workers will ensure an effective 24-hour response to support and risk related needs working 3 or 4 10 hour shifts each week. Working along-side others that will be sleeping-in NSWs are a bed-rock of our commitment to deliver a flexible service that is tailored around the needs of individuals. Key Skills including some customer-group specific competencies: - Undertake co-key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Team Leader / Manager. - Undertake initial & continuous assessment of needs and potential risks & agree levels of support and actions. - Create night support/ action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available. - Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation. - Enable customers to make full use of community facilities by providing support as directed. - Report any observations relating to customers welfare.
